ABOUT CHOLESTEROL AND WHY I DECIDED TO GO ON A KETOGENIC PLANT BASED DIET.

Hi everyone,

I have been on a Ketogenic diet for more than 2 years and as an athlete I am always on a constant study about what works better for me. As we know, we are all different and sometimes what works for you not necessary works for me.

I have been helping people to be in NUTRITIONAL KETOSIS and I always ask them to do a blood test to check. Most of the cases have a really good response in their LIPIDS, even doing a Ketogenic diet really high on Saturated fats and animal products, and trust me, not the best quality of meat, doing processed meats, not grass fed, etc.. (WHAT I DON´T RECOMMEND AT ALL) but we need to understand that for the person that lives a life around the clock and does not have much options to eat and have the burger store next to their jobs, the only way to be in Nutritional Ketosis is to get a protein style burger and add some butter, etc..

To start that could be ok. But when you loose some weight and feel more energy and not hungry all the time, then we will think on step 2, that is improving the food quality and maybe doing Intermittent Fasting so you just wait to eat at home. But that’s another story.

In my case the story was different.

After being 2 years on Nutritional Ketosis I did a complete lipid test and I didn’t like my results at all. So I wanna share with you some numbers and what was my diet looked like on each step, so this information might help you to find the best approach to a well structured KETOGENIC DIET for you.

And here are the results. I think this is amazing considering that in the three different ways of eating I’m in NUTRITIONAL KETOSIS so my diet consist more that 70% Fat. You have to consider that in the 3 stages I had days where I ate even more fat, almost no cheat days, I been only out of NUTRITIONAL KESOSIS couple of days in this entire process.

So I can tell you that after being more than 4 month in NUTRITIONA KETOSIS following a Plant based approach instead of eating plenty of animal products I feel great:

  • My performance is still great.
  • My body composition is even better, less body fat, and with good muscle tone.
  • My fasting blood sugar is much better than before. I use to have number around the 90 even some days 95. Now is on the 75 and some days goes up to 81.
  • My fasting Keaton readings are also more stable and higher. Before I was always around 0.5 and today 1.5.

After experimenting that my body looks like it reacts much better on a PLANT BASED approach, and if we add the fact that:

1-It’s hard, not to say impossible, to have a regular access to grass fed, no antibiotics, hormones free meat.

2- The toxicity that is created when we cook meats . Toxicity that the body needs to clean. Yes. It is a natural process, but why adding more toxins to our body to clean if today we don’t need to? We already leave on a toxic industrialize planet. WE ARE NOT IN THE CAVES ANYMORE.

3- The respect for animals and the cruelty and suffering that involves eating a piece of meat. Before we didn’t have a choice, today we do.

4- The extreme damage that animal farming is making to our planet: water consumption, air contamination (methane), deforestation, ocean pollution, starvation. (We can basically feed the complete human race if we give the food we need to feed the animals we eat)

 

I strongly recommend that if you are an athlete and wanna follow a KETOGENIC PLANT BASED diet you must consider supplementing with:

-B COMPLEX SHOTS

-OMEGA 3 ( from ALGAE)

-ESSENCIAL AMINOACIDS

-BCAA

-PLANT BASED PROTEIN POWDERS ( not SOY due to GMO)
